Coastal Interiors: Cozy Reading Nook

Christmas, Coastal Interiors, Edesign, Holiday, Home Blog Posts, Interiors, Living RoomAnneke McConnell

Hi friends! Thanks so much for your amazing response to my first my first Gift Guide of the season supporting small business owners!  As retailers has "unleashed" the mass of their own guides and sale, even I was becoming overwhelmed. With that said, I'm happy to delve into all that and narrow things down for you!

As we approach the weekend and the holidays have officially kicked off, I have to say I'm LOVING this season and embracing the JOY of it all.  I'm choosing to be very intentional with my time and making room for family fun with less stress and more balance - I have to say this book, The Miracle Morning (have you heard of it?),  has been eye-opening for me in making this happen!

As for today's mini-design, I have a cozy reading nook in mind, curling up with that book, next to a fireplace, and enjoying a cup of hot cocoa.  Bliss am I right?!

The seasonal wreath adds a pop of green next to some of my favorite colors of navy, black, white and gold.  I'd love to know what stands out to you first and if you have any questions - ask away in the comments!

Where to Find Unique Traditional Rugs such as Kilim and Balouch Rugs

Coastal Interiors, Edesign, Home Blog Posts, InteriorsAnneke McConnell

With a little home updating in the works for our living room and entryway, I've been browsing around for the perfect rug (this one is a major contender!).   As much as I love my coastal striped rugs and natural sisal or jute rugs, I have an absolute LOVE for a unique traditional rug - my favorite is a balouch (or baluch) rug, like this one in our kitchen.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that when I was growing up I did not appreciate the beauty of these rugs.  Thankfully since then, I've found my way.  They are truly a work of art and add a ton of character and personality to a room!

If you're looking for the perfect traditional rug for your home with a bit of a boho, coastal, Pacific Northwest kind of vibe, one of the following may be a good option for you.  Remember you can always search for the specific size you need and the type of rug (such as balouch, kilim, heriz, serapi, etc.)

It never hurts to check eBay, your local craigslist, or etsy for the occasional unique find, but below I've listed some rugs I love from places that you will find unique, one of a kind rugs consistently.

God Bless!

Design of the Week: Coastal Accent Wall Design

Edesign, Entryway, Home Blog PostsAnneke McConnell

Hello to the weekend! Sorry to design and dash, but we're on the verge of family time (priority!) and I'm focusing a lot on my furniture painting guide for you guys (sign up HERE!).

It seems harder to balance things in the summer, but we're enjoying (almost) every bit of it!

This design began with that beautiful weathered gray spindle leg console, then I went on to search for the artwork and the chairs. I love those stripes and saw a few other colors available (they come in a set of two).

Cool toned blues with warm brass accents never fails. Then add in a bit of pattern and texture which pulls it all together!

If you love this design, please pin it or pass it along to a friend. Your support means so much and I'm thankful for that!

Design of the Day: Coastal Cool Living Room

Coastal Interiors, Edesign, Home Blog Posts, Interiors, Living RoomAnneke McConnell

COMPLETE THE LOOK

Thanks for the love on yesterday's fall outerwear post!  I think since we are currently road tripping across a few states to Yellowstone currently (and it's pretty hot!), I was inspired to created a calm and cool design for the living room today. A design that is classic and will stand the test of time, with a bit of modern flair.

If you enjoy this design, please pin and share it for future reference!

I hate to blog and run, but I'm keeping things pretty short and sweet until our kiddos are back in school. Being full-time mama is my #1 priority this summer!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
